- Welcome you have found the Cleary family blog. We started this blog as a way of keeping our family and friends in the lower 48 involved in our Alaskan adventure. We never know where we will end up on any outing. When we are snowless and the weather is on our side we try to see as much as we can. Our road trips could be a drive to Talkeetna or a fling down to Homer. From the small town of Hope to Valdez. Delta Junction is a crossroads of sorts and don't blink or you might miss the town of Chicken. They wanted to name the town ptarmigan but the towns people couldn't spell ptarmigan. So they settled for Chicken...
